Hannover Messe 2019: Welcome to the age of industrial intelligence

27 March, 2019

More than 6500 exhibiting companies from 70 countries and 225,000 visitors from 80 countries will participate in 2019. Two thirds of exhibitors and one third of visitors come from outside of Germany. Approximately 95% of visitors are trade professionals. In 2018, roughly 8% of visitors (16,100) and 23% of exhibitors (1160) came from Asia.

Global platform for startups, learning and networking

Digital transformation is a driving force in today’s industrial marketplace. Hannover Messe hosts more than 90 conferences and that cover this and many other major trends and topics in industry.

For example, the forum Industrie 4.0 Meets the Industrial Internet draws upwards of 8000 attendees. Global Business & Markets, Hannover Messe’s foreign trade platform, hosts 220 exhibitors and attracts more than 5000 participants. Young Tech Enterprises, the startup hub at Hannover Messe, consists of an exhibition, a forum, pitches, matchmaking events, and workshops.

A new highlight for 2019 is the Industrial Pioneers Summit on 2 April, which brings together thought leaders and innovators from all fields to discuss strategies and scenarios for the future of industry, business and society.

Partner Country: Sweden

Hannover Messe not only features the latest innovations, products and technologies for industry, but also promotes foreign trade by bringing together business leaders, politicians and investors from all over the world. To support this goal, the exhibition designates a Partner Country every year. Selection criteria include a growing economy, a strong manufacturing base or potential, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. In Hannover, the Partner Country presents its technology initiatives, growth strategies, research projects and investment opportunities to an international audience. Recent Partner Countries include Mexico (2018), Poland (2017), USA (2016), India (2015) and the Netherlands (2014).

Sweden is Partner Country of Hannover Messe 2019. The designation further strengthens a bilateral innovation partnership that Sweden and Germany signed in early 2017. Goals include intensified cooperation in the areas of electro mobility, e-health, test facilities for innovation, and digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

“Partner Country Sweden is a tremendous platform for cooperation between Sweden and companies, economic development organisations, R&D institutes and governments from all over the world,” said Peter Eriksson, Sweden’s Minister for Housing and Digital Development. “Our program for Hannover in April promotes collaboration, innovation and digital transformation. We look forward to showing visitors that Sweden is a great business partner.”

Partner Country Sweden’s central pavilion will be in Hall 27, with satellite technology pavilions located in various sectors of the show. The supporting programme includes the Sweden-Germany Business Summit as well a variety of forums and networking events about innovation and business opportunities in Sweden.

“Sweden is an economic power, its workforce is well-educated and innovative, and it is a leader in digital transformation – perfect attributes for our Partner Country in 2019,” said Dr. Jochen Köckler, chief executive officer of Deutsche Messe. “With world-leading companies such as ABB, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Ericsson, SKF, Trelleborg, and Vatenfall as well as a vibrant start-up scene and welcoming business environment, Sweden is sure to be a big hit at Hannover Messe.”
