Reap major benefits at LAMMA 2016
At a time when the agricultural industry in general, and the farm machinery market in particular, is experiencing a number of difficulties, the LAMMA Show – taking place at the East of England showground, Peterborough on 20 and 21 January – is set fair to buck this trend with a record number of exhibitors having already booked stand space.
As Britain’s largest agricultural machinery show, the organisers promise a bumper display of every type of kit used in farming; an environment where visitors can see and buy anything from a socket set to a combine harvester.
Many leading manufacturers will be present, with several planning UK launches of new machinery which first appeared at the Agritechnica Show in Germany in November 2015. However, due to the heritage of the LAMMA Show, visitors will also be able to see companies and products that they will not encounter at any other show.
First-time exhibitors
When it was first introduced in 1982, LAMMA’s original objective was to showcase new and innovative products from local engineers who may not have had the resources to attend other trade fairs. This tradition continues; not only on a national, but also on an international scale. First-time exhibitors from across Europe, and even further afield, will be exhibiting at LAMMA 2016, along with a host of new faces from UK and Ireland.
Machinery covers all agricultural sectors; from arable to dairy, estate management to vegetable production. Many specialist products from a wide range of manufacturers will be able to be viewed side-by-side for easy comparison, and the realistic exhibiting costs encourage suppliers to bring their full ranges.
Rapid growth in fluid power component demand
At LAMMA 2015, the introduction of an exhibition hall dedicated to workshop supplies, equipment and components proved very popular with visitors. The growing trend towards the development of on-farm maintenance workshops and small scale manufacturing of ‘one-off’ pieces of equipment has seen a rapid growth in the demand for hydraulic and pneumatic components. As a result, the number of exhibitors offering these kinds of products has increased greatly.
At a time when margins are tight for farmers, the purchase of good-quality used equipment often represents a more cost-effective alternative to buying new. This has become a much more important sector of the industry which is catered for in the Dealers’ Den, which was another successful innovation at LAMMA 2015. A large number of leading online traders of used machinery plus many dealers with large second hand fleets and specialist used kit publications will be exhibiting in the Dealers’ Den – an ideal place to find out what is on the market and make contacts for a future purchase. The organisers comment that there will doubtless be some bargains to be had.
Added-value
LAMMA is a show which has something to interest every member of the farming team and still represents one of the best value work outings in the business, with free admission and parking. Exhibitors also work hard to make it a day to enjoy with plenty of special offers, competitions and giveaways to seek out around the stands; plus there will be the usual stunning display of vintage machinery.
The early bird breakfast continues, with a ‘Full English’ served in the Arena restaurant at a discounted price from 6.30 to 8am. In addition, a wide range of catering outlets around the showground means it is easy to grab a snack or a coffee during the day, without taking time out from your schedule.
Well-positioned
Show hours are from 7.30am to 5pm, so there is plenty of time to take it all in. The site is well-positioned for visitors travelling from all points of the compass and Peterborough has excellent rail links (shuttle bus services will run from Peterborough station). There is also a choice of airports close at hand. As a major showground there is also a wide range of accommodation locally and many visitors are choosing to attend on both days.
