Major organisations offer career opportunities at The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition

29 April, 2014

Many major engineering employers, taking a positive outlook on growth prospects, recently looked for their next generation of staff at the National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition (NECR), held at Birmingham’s NEC on 4 and 5 April.

Ramboll, Babcock Marine & Technology, Network Rail, CH2M Hill, Aquaterra Energy, Safran Power, Royal Navy, Spinar and Cape are just some of the established names that are offering a wide range of exciting opportunities and roles suitable for professionals at all stages in their careers.

The exhibition brings together an impressive array of companies from across the industry, including those in the aeronautical, oil and gas, marine, structural and transport sectors.

Alongside the main exhibition, a series of professional clinics were staged, offering visitors expert help and tips including free CV consultation, an Interview Clinic and Career Advice Lounge as well as a Professional Development Hub supported by the Engineering Council and many leading industry institutions.

Continuous professional development

The Professional Development Hub was open to all visitors, giving them the chance to meet representatives from major engineering industry institutions and discover how they might help with continuous professional development*. It is a popular element during the exhibition and provides valuable advice on professional registration and personal career development.

Additionally, the ‘Women in Engineering’ Forum took place on Friday 4 April offering women the opportunity to speak, meet and discuss with their peers the benefits of working in the industry, as well as the chance to network with potential employers. For university students, the Engineering Challenge gives teams of students from universities across the country the chance to compete against each other to design, build and test their inventions in a challenging task to win a prize of £500.

John Hancock, managing director of Venture Marketing Group, which organises The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition, commented: “The quality and range of companies exhibiting is exciting. With all these opportunities and the free advice available, for many engineers, both recent graduates and those with experience, this is a potentially life changing day.”

The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition was held in association with the Daily and Sunday Telegraph.

 * The institutions include: the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE); the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3); the Welding Institute (TWI); the Society of Environmental Engineers (SEE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE), the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).
