New compressor pulls in savings for trailer components manufacturer (Oct 2013)

Bradley Doublelock, the UK manufacturer of components for the industrial, leisure and military trailer markets, is currently expanding its Bingley, West Yorkshire production facility to cope with increased production requirements. This in turn has called for greater compressed air output to power additional machinery, leading to the company calling in Thorite for advice on the most suitable compressor for their future needs.

Thorite's engineers carried out a data-logging exercise on Bradley Doublelock's existing Hydrovane 822 compressor to monitor its performance. It soon became clear that with changing power requirements throughout the working period a compressor which could automatically adjust to these fluctuations would save energy, emissions and costs.
The solution proposed by Thorite was a Hydrovane HV30RS vertical enclosed variable speed compressor with a maximum free air delivery of 190cfm. This compressor features compact dimensions, quiet operation and low maintenance costs, but is capable of producing more than enough compressed air output to cope with the maximum needs of Bradley Doublelock's increased production.
 
The new compressor is now installed and is already producing worthwhile energy savings. Michael Halliday, Bradley Doublelock's production engineering manager said: "The ability to produce significantly more trailer components whilst actually reducing our energy usage obviously makes indisputable business sense and I'm delighted with the way Thorite has responded to our requirements. We can now implement our plans for the future knowing that we can deliver on whatever the needs of the market."
