Parker-Origa launches revolutionary rodless linear actuator for reliable operation at temperatures down to -40°C (Nov 2010)

30 November, 2010

The Parker-Origa Division of Parker Hannifin, the world’s largest manufacturer of motion and control technologies, has extended its range of OSP-P pneumatic rodless linear actuators with the introduction of the revolutionary OSP-L series; this provides reliable operation at temperatures down to -40°C, in even the most demanding of environments. Developed for use in applications where particularly low leakage and protection against contamination are vital, the new actuators are equipped with a high performance PU inner seal and an outer steel seal preventing the ingress of particles and moisture to ensure long service life, low cost of ownership and, ultimately, optimal profitability.

Furthermore, the new OSP-L rodless linear actuator offers remarkably low wear characteristics, to eliminate downtime and boost productivity, with a typical operating life of up to 8,000km without requiring any maintenance.

In addition, the aluminium profile of the new actuators is fully compatible with Parker-Origa’s proven range of modular system components. The standard OSP-L model features an inner plain bearing guide and, depending on the particular requirements of each application, can be fitted with the SLIDELINE external sliding guide or the STARLINE external recirculating linear ball bearing guide to ensure maximum flexibility.

In common with Parker Origa’s proven OSP-P series, the new OSP-L series actuators feature an extremely compact and lightweight design, with a compact, low profile and a quick and easy to install single-side air connection. There is also the option for 3/2 directional control valves to be integrated into the standard unit.

Additionally, a range of accessories is available, including clevis and inverse mounted carriages, to enhance functionality still further, while duplex and multiplex connection of multiple linear drives is also possible. A wide range of fasteners can easily and flexibly be mounted onto the OSP-L in a variety of positions. In conjunction with the standard magnetic piston, the easy to install relay switches and the variable mechanical stops, enable any number of stop positions to be used and monitored reliably.
