Genair releases hybrid power 100% oil-free compressor

26 March, 2021

Genair has launched what it claims to be the first ever 100% oilfree hybrid air compressor as a new addition to its rental fleet. Developed and built in the UK, the new compressors are described as combining the versatility of a diesel-powered unit with the environmental benefits of electric drive in one complete package, delivering a high level of efficiency and lower fuel costs, all with a reduced emissions output.

Weatherproof bespoke canopy

Manufactured to full refinery specification, including spark arrestor and over speed protection, the units are housed in a fully weatherproof bespoke canopy and conform to standard 20” ISO dimensions for ease of transport. In addition, they can operate in a stacked configuration, reducing the footprint on sites where multiple units are required in limited space. Genair states that with a free air delivery of 23.5m3/min of class zero quality air at 10.3barg, the compressors will consume just 38 litres of fuel per hour when operating as a pure diesel unit on full load. The company adds that when compared with an equivalent conventional oil free diesel compressor, this provides for a considerable saving in fuel costs, with the additional benefit of being able to fully operate from site mains power as a zero emissions electric compressor when required.

Founded in 2007, Genair’s management team has a combined experience of over 140 years in the compressed air industry. The company offers one of the largest rental fleets of air compressors and associated equipment in Europe. Genair also operates its own fleet of crane equipped lorries and has a team of specialist compressed air installation and commissioning engineers, allowing it to respond to customers’ planned or unplanned requirements 24/7, 365 days a year.

Wide client base

Paul Starling, sales director at Genair, comments: “These units are a great addition to our customer offering. We have clients in all industries ranging from petrochemical, drilling and power generation through to food and pharmaceutical manufacturing and we’re seeing a clear move across all sectors to reducing diesel usage and improving the environmental footprint.

“Complementing our range of oil-free and oil-lubricated weatherised electric compressors and Ultra-Low Emission Zone compliant diesel compressors, these machines are a fantastic addition to the fleet, all of which can be coupled with our full range of desiccant dryers. We have worked very hard as a business to develop this unique product in the compressed air market and to have been able to develop and build these units in-house in the UK, supporting local industry and the environment, makes us very proud.”

Genair states it will be happy to discuss any compressed air requirements with prospective users for them to find their ideal rental solution, whatever the application.
