New valve offerings from Webtec

Webtec, the Cambridge (UK) based hydraulic measurement and control company, has launched a brand new range of hydraulic high-pressure, near zero-leak directional control valves specifically designed for use on marine and offshore hydraulic control/power units. Typical applications include drill rigs, deck machinery, lifting equipment and grease injection units.


Designed and manufactured in the UK, all 5000 variants of the 280 series valve are available with optional ATEX (II 3G TX) and 3.1 material traceability certification.

Martin Cuthbert, Webtec’s managing director, commented: “Customers of our 180 series of high-pressure aluminium valves that we have been making for over 50 years have increasingly been requesting a valve suitable for harsh environments. The new 280 series is the result of 18 months’ engineering and builds on our current product knowledge, in a new stainless steel body and using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques”.

The 280 series is rated up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) and is a shear type directional control valve that utilises an optically flat rotary spool with pressure loaded seats to ensure near zero-leakage. The valve body is produced from 316 grade Stainless Steel to prevent corrosion and is factory configurable to the user’s requirements. Variations include 6 flow patterns, 3 flow/pressure sizes, 3 types of hydraulic seal side port, a manifold ‘O’ ring port, straight or cranked handle, sprung centre or detent handle action, and various mounting options.

High-pressure hydraulic flow control valves

Webtec has also further expanded its range of high-pressure hydraulic flow control valves designed for mobile machinery used in the Construction and Agricultural industries. The FV120 and FV200 ranges of fixed and proportional flow control valves now offer exceptional pressure compensated flow stability at operating pressures up to 420 bar (6000 psi).

The FV120 and FV200 are both three-port valves rated for flows up to 76 lpm (20 US gpm), and offer a fixed priority flow or a fixed proportional split which is ideal for ensuring hydraulic motors or cylinders operate at a constant speed, regardless of the load on them. The two ranges complement the recently launched VFD190 range of high-pressure variable priority flow control valves, which are also rated up to 420 bar and were released in July 2014. The VFD190 is designed for larger flows, up to 190 lpm (50 US gpm) and enables customers to benefit from a significant efficiency saving over competitive designs, due its reduced pressure drop and hence lower operating cost.
