NEWS FROM THE MEMBERSHIP

Hydac Technology moves to Witney

Hydac, which was originally located at Charlbury, moved to new premises in Witney in late September. A new membership plaque was presented to Hydac managing director George Muscat by Ian Morris, director of the BFPA.

Burley Fluid & Air relocated to new premises in the Fens

Burley Fluid & Air moved into its new 5500 sq ft, purpose-built unit in mid-August. The site is situated in just over half an acre of land on the main industrial area in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire; the capital of the Fens. Burley specialises in a complete solution for the supply of hydraulic & pneumatic components. Due to the increased size of the new premises the company has been able to increase its range and stock of pneumatic parts.

IMechE Library, a valuable engineering resource

Many member companies will have staff at all levels who are members of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, yet how often does your company make use of the extremely valuable facilities available often at no cost? These range from the business centre giving a meeting or working place right in the heart of London, to the most superbly stocked technical library.
This facility is accessible in many ways, in addition to actually calling in (which is of course highly recommended). For example, it has a virtual library accessible on line, together with an excellent loan service. The loan service is also available to members of other institutions such as RAeS, IET, ICE, IMarEST, ISTructE, TWI and EI. For further information the BFPA highly recommends that you look at the IMechE website http://www.imeche.org.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is one of the longest established institutions of its kind and features among past presidents names such as Robert Louis Stephenson, Brunel and, from our own industry, Bramah. It has championed the cause of engineering in this country and will continue to do so.

Approved Hose Assembly Scheme continues to grow in popularity

The BFPA would like to welcome Service Hydraulics of Darlaston (West Midlands) into the Approved Hose Assembly Scheme. The company has recently been inspected and approved to produce hose assemblies in accordance with the Association D8 quality control document.
