SED on track for 12 to 14 May

SED is staging its 44th annual event at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby, Northamptonshire, from 12 to 14 May. Around 200 exhibitors have already confirmed attendance, with many launching brand new plant and machinery products, as well as offering live demonstrations …

New Holland Construction will be demonstrating a number of new B Series machines, and will be inviting plant operators to explore and drive the machinery to its full potential on its demonstration area in the SED showground. Ammann will be showing an extensive selection of machines from its mini excavators and compaction equipment, together with a number of Cormidi tracked dumpers. New this year will be a line of excavator attachments aimed at the demolition and recycling market.
Put through their paces
Hyundai Heavy Industries is back this year showing a range of mini and midi excavators and also a loading shovel. Hyundai also has a substantial demonstration plot, where the excavators will be put through their paces. Bobcat will have static and working demonstrations of the full range of compact equipment from micro, mini and zero-tail swing excavators to state-of-the art skid steers, compact tracked loaders and telehandlers, although Bobcat has not released details of exact models. Other major excavator manufacturers attending SED this year include, Hanix, Doosan Infracore and Case New Holland.
JCB Finance will be on hand, in the Pavilion, offering expert advice on financing and overcoming finance problems, cashflow, raising cash and what information you might need to provide in order to secure financing. JCB will also be hosting a finance seminar, where visitors are free to attend, and can also book slots at the JCB Finance clinic for private one on one discussion. Ladybird Crane Hire is coming to SED this year with a new self-erecting tower crane transport system. Developed over a period of eight years by Gavarini, one of Italy’s major distributors and hirers of Potain tower cranes, the ‘GAPO’ is a radio remote controlled, motorised, self-propelled, 4-wheel steering transport system, suitable for a number of applications, although primarily developed for the carrying of tower cranes. 
UK Hire Jobs, the niche Job Board for the Plant Hire and Construction Supply sector, will be exhibiting in the Pavilion. The company will be showcasing a Job Board offering a searchable industry CV database, and encouraging employers and recruitment agencies to highlight their vacancies direct to the market. UK Hire Jobs will be offering free vacancy postings to all employers who place vacancies at the show. Tiltrotators manufacturer, Engcon, now offers a fully automatic quick hitch with a certified safe working load (SWL). The Engcon fully automatic S60 quick hitch has been tested by Lloyds British Testing to a SWL of 10 tonnes and a proof load of 20 tonnes. The company offers a range of quick hitches to suit machines from 1 tonne through to 45 tonnes. Engcon will be showing and demonstrating the automatic quick hitch at this year’s show.
Hydrex, the UK and Ireland dealer for the Fuchs range of rehandling machines, will be exhibiting a selection of machines from its range. There will also be a selection of telehandlers on display. Austrian company Josef Martin is a new SED exhibitor and will be exhibiting its range of excavator buckets, quick coupling systems and safety systems. Boccia made its SED debut in 2008 and this year will be launching its new Manipav M2000 and M3000 laser-controlled screeders.
‘Bread and butter’
New to SED, DAC Engineering is planning to launch a brand new 30 x 18 compact single toggle jaw crusher. SED veterans Baughans Barrel Screens will also be launching a number of new machines, including the prototype of the brand new ‘Floppy Barrel’ and a new Jobber Crusher, with a magnet. Baughans will also be bringing the company’s ‘bread and butter’ machines such as the Midi Barrel Screen the 3-Way Split and HawkFawk Grapples.
