Reflections on the BFPA’s 60th anniversary year

17 May, 2019

The increasingly important role of distribution in the fluid power industry over the years was recognised with the formation of the British Fluid Power Distributors Association (BFPDA) in 1988. The success of the BFPDA can be seen today with membership standing at around 230 and a variety of companies ranging from single location to companies with a national network of depots across the UK offering not only components supply but also design and technical services.

After moving around various office locations in London in the early years, rising costs forced a move out of the city and BFPA relocated to Chipping Norton in 1993, near to the premises of the then BFPA president, Phil Hopkins of HYDAC Technology where it has been ever since.

Recent years a have seen the launch of the BFPDA Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme in 1994 a growth in BFPA’s activities in support of training to improve health & safety standards in the fluid power industry through supporting CETOP fluid power courses and its own training courses, run through the BFPA Training Academy www.bfpatrainingacademy.co.uk

Who knows what the next 60 years will bring, but we’re ready for the challenges. Please visit our website to find out what we do www.bfpa.co.uk , call us on 01608 647900 or email enquiries@bfpa.co.uk
