Construction boss to share inspirational vision at key industry events

04 October, 2018

The inspirational female boss of an award-winning construction company says she is honoured to have been asked to speak at a number of renowned industry events this year.

Polish-born Monika Slowikowska, anticipated to be the only woman working at the level of sole director and owner in the UK construction industry, has been named as a panel member at the prestigious Inspire Summit, UK Construction Week, London Build Expo and Construction News Summit events.

Future of construction skills post-Brexit

Slowikowska, who was voted Best Woman Contractor prize at the European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards 2018 earlier this year, will discuss the future of construction skills post-Brexit, as well as many other challenges currently facing the construction industry.

Since launching the company Golden Houses Developments Ltd. in 2012, her success story continues to grow exponentially, and in its fourth year the business increased its turnover six-fold compared with its first year of trading.

With such success behind her, and a philosophy of employing strong teams that collaborate from project to project, Slowikowska's contributions to these forthcoming events are anticipated to be highly valued. Her focus on mental attitude, self-responsibility and the use of emotional intelligence in interpersonal contacts is way to reduce blame-culture and improve communication in the Industry.

Vision

The entrepreneur has driven Golden Houses Developments to develop a number of innovative business models. She said: "It is a privilege to be able to speak at these renowned events. I look forward to sharing my vision of the construction industry and joining other industry leaders in discussing the future and impacts within the sector."

Slowikowska will make the first of four appearances at these events on 25 September 2018 at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester during the Inspire Summit. Monika will join a panel discussion, where she will share her view on “How to combat discriminatory behaviour in the workplace: Educate = Eradicate”

Diversity and inclusivity

Inspire Summit is an annual conference and exhibition that brings people working in the construction, engineering and housing sectors together to explore how we make the industries more diverse and inclusive.

On 11 October at the NEC Birmingham, Slowikowska will appear at UK Construction Week. She will form part of a 'Question Time' style panel, discussing the future of construction skills in the post-Brexit era. The UK Construction Week (UKCW) event, which runs from 9 to 11 October 2018, is the UK’s largest built environment event and is free to enter.

Slowikowska will also be joining the free to attend London Build Expo on 23 October, as part of a panel discussing the London Skyline in 2020.

The event, running on 23 and 24 October 2018, will feature more than 240 speakers and more than 300 exhibitors, and is also expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees for extensive networking.

Opportunities and structures

On 21 November, Slowikowska will join other industry experts at Construction News Summit. The panel will discuss attitudes, opportunities and structures and what needs to be done throughout the supply chain to change the gender balance on boards.

This is a key event for all decision-makers in the construction industry and will take place on 20 and 21 November 2018.
