Abrasion resistant spiral wire hoses

13 April, 2017

Gates Corporation, a global diversified manufacturer of industrial and automotive products, has released a new, powerful abrasion resistant XtraTuff cover for spiral wire hoses in 4000 and 5000 psi configurations.

The Gates XtraTuff cover offers 25 times more abrasion resistance than the standard hydraulic hose cover as per ISO 6945 standard. While fully maintaining the Gates MegaSys hose performance and flexibility, the new cover is claimed to provide excellent wear performance in hose-to-hose and hose-to-metal contact applications.

Ralitza Arafin, global product line director, said: “Gates always has the customer application in mind when designing products. The new XtraTuff cover is the best alternative when customers need a flexible, highly abrasion resistant hose. It is ideal for impact resistance from sharp rocks and for pulling hoses through boom arms and in utility loaders across articulation points.”

Available in sizes -6, -8, -10, -12, -16, and -20, Gates comments that the new EFG4K-XTF and EFG5K-XTF spiral wire hoses exceed all performance requirements for SAE 100R12 and 100R13 respectively. The company adds that the hoses also meet Flame Resistance Acceptance Designation ‘MSHA 2G’ for use in demanding mining environments.
