Atlas Copco distributor Pennine Pneumatic Services celebrates 25th Anniversary

16 November, 2016

A quarter of a century of trading and a successful partnership as an Atlas Copco distributor are being celebrated this year by Halifax-based Pennine Pneumatic Services (PPS).

Founder and managing director of PPS, Gary Whitaker, said “We’ve come a long way in 25 years and the business has gone from strength to strength, generating income and providing vital local employment but it also means that we have been able to help our customers make annual savings of thousands of pounds by introducing them to the latest leading edge, energy- efficient Atlas Copco products, such as VSD compressors and vacuum pumps.”

PPS began trading in Brunswick Mill, Halifax in 1991 with a staff of five, including two engineers who doubled as pipe fitters, moving to West Parade then on to the current Mount Pellon Works premises in 1995. Today, the group employs a total of 51 people, including the staff of Sheffield-based Simm Engineering; a long-established, successful business acquired by PPS in 2015.

As a premier distributor, the PPS group’s sales, service and installation operations offers Yorkshire customers solutions from Atlas Copco’s industrial compressor range; including fixed speed oil-injected rotary screw GX and GA compressors and VSD variants from 7kW up to 315kW. In addition, the company supplies and installs Class Zero rated oil-free scroll compressors up to 22kW together with quality air accessories such as dryers and inline filters.

To help meet specialised application needs, PPS has added a vacuum equipment professional to the PPS team to introduce the GHS VSD+ rotary screw vacuum pumps range to process operations. It has also helped utility companies keep a watchful eye on their compressor performance with Atlas Copco’s SmartLink remote monitoring system.

Whitaker reported that PPS had additional cause for celebration this year: “There’s nothing like winning an award to start an anniversary year off on the right foot. In January, we were thrilled to receive the Atlas Copco Distributor of the Year Award for 2015 – the second time in three years that we’ve won this award. Having won the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2015, our overall growth on last year’s sales of Atlas Copco products was 30% - an exceptional result. Winning the award is testament to the hard work put in by the whole team.”
