CompAir’s engineers on hand to give energy advice at Southern Manufacturing 2012

18 December, 2011

At Southern Manufacturing 2012, Gardner Denver (CompAir) will be offering visitors practical advice on some of the latest technologies that can improve compressed air efficiency. The company’s engineers will be on hand on stand P19 to offer free air audits and practical advice on maintaining the efficiency of CompAir compressors.

Running a compressor can have a major impact on a company’s energy bill so reducing fuel consumption can have significant financial advantages whilst also helping to meet the ever-increasing energy legislation that affects modern European industry.Commenting on the reasons for attending the show, Managing Director of Gardner Denver, Colin Mander said, “We are committed to improving performance and efficiency for our customers, whilst helping them to lower their impact on the environment”.

By distinguishing air pressure requirements, power consumption, flow rates and parameters, CompAir’s engineers are able to give a free air audit. The information can be used to identify ways to improve the efficiency of the visitor’s existing installation.

This can include recommendations on choosing the right size and mix of fixed and regulated-speed compressors, switching to a new energy efficient model, leak detection and installing a heat recovery system.

Leak Detection
CompAir will be offering visitors a free leak test audit. Estimates claim that the cost of just one 3-mm compressed air leak, at 7-bar pressure could be as high as £1,000 per year. A simple leak test will provide plant managers with information on where their compressed air system could be wasting energy and money. The test is clean and quick and can detect leaks from any distance, ideal in noisy plant conditions when checking air cooling lines, condensate drain valves, couplings, hoses, joints and pipes.

Heat Recovery
The company will also be advising on heat recovery options. Heat exchangers that recover and transfer the heat lost during compression can be used to heat the factory water supply or can be recovered and diverted to a different part of the factory through ducting, providing excellent payback results.

Aftermarket Care
The company’s aftermarket experts will also be available at the show to discuss service and maintenance options. The company offers national service capabilities throughout the UK and Ireland, offering an all-makes, all-models solution from 4 bar, through to 414 bar on all types of compressors and downstream equipment.
The aftermarket team will be on hand to advise on the best service package to suit customer requirements, whether it be reactive breakdown, preventative or predictive maintenance. The company will also be showcasing some of its most popular compressors, including a 7 kW oil-lubricated rotary screw unit alongside models from the proven Hydrovane range of compact vane machines.
