TIS Hydraulics receives major distribution manifold order from Halliburton

17 August, 2016

TIS Hydraulics Ltd., the Aberdeen-based instrumentation and fluid power company, was recently approached by oilfield services and product provider, Halliburton, to design a 10-valve medium pressure distribution manifold for an ongoing project that Halliburton is working on in Houston, Texas US.

The manifolds were required to comprise a key part the project, therefore very specific and critical deadlines for delivery had to be met. TIS Hydraulics, which has been supplying equipment to Halliburton for over 15 years, put forward a proposal that it was confident was achievable within the required timeframe and specifications. After due consideration the company was told it had won the order to supply 96 units.

The main purpose of the manifolds is to allow operators to charge and test multiple umbilical hoses from a single feed which ultimately saves both time and money for the end user. Out-with the umbilical testing due to their portable nature the manifolds are also used to perform various control and flushing operations for systems that require high pressure testing.

Designed, built and tested in-house

The manifolds were designed, built and tested in-house. “Not only did we meet Halliburton’s very specific timescale, we actually managed to improve upon it – to the delight of all involved,” said Dave Freelove, TIS Hydraulics’ business development manager.

Freelove added that the prerequisite for winning the order was not only to be price-competitive, but also be able to supply the complete package on time and on budget.

“We managed to achieve this as all the design, fabrication and testing was kept in-house, giving us full control of the job from start to finish, without being reliant on any third party,” remarked Freelove, who added that TIS Hydraulics has subsequently secured additional manifold orders on the back of the service levels it provided to Halliburton.

Over the years, our knowledge and depth of experience within the oil and gas industry has made us a key supplier to some of the largest oil companies within the UK,” commented Freelove. “However, TIS Hydraulics is not limited to just this market and has a significant presence in many of the other key industries such as pharmaceutical, power plants, petrochemical, packaging and food & beverage.

“Achieving and maintaining a high level of customer service remains one of TIS Hydraulics’ core values. This has been key to our continued success over the past 22 years.”
