Mattei celebrates employees’ 40-year service

22 November, 2011

Rotary vane compressor manufacturer Mattei is celebrating 40 years of long service with two employees each reaching their 20-year anniversary with the company.

Joan Murray-White of Ilmington in Warwickshire joined in September 1991 and is Mattei’s administrative assistant. She is responsible for general running of the office, providing secretarial and accountancy support for the sales team and service engineers.

Originally from Slimbridge in Gloucestershire, she spent several years in Australia before returning to the UK and eventually taking up her role at Mattei. Murray-White is on the board of governors of the Ilmington C of E Primary School and also plays tennis and sings in a choir in her spare time. She commented: “I enjoy the variety of work at Mattei and being busy, as well as being part of such a great team of people. The time has literally flown since I joined 20 years ago.”

Part of the bigger picture
John Pearce is one of Mattei’s service engineers and joined in October 1991. His role involves installing and servicing compressors for a wide range of customers from dry cleaners through to oil refineries. He said: “I can’t believe it has been 20 years and although Mattei is quite a large company, it has a very strong family feel to the organisation with everyone being included as part of the bigger picture.”

Born in London, Pearce now lives near to Ashford in Kent. In his spare time, he loves motorcycles and likes to attend music festivals. He also enjoys good red wine and cooking and even grows his own chillies, claiming to make the hottest chilli sauce in Kent.

Andy Jones, general manager of Mattei, added: “Joan and John have contributed a combined 40 years of valuable service to our company and I congratulate them both on their efforts and staying power in the job. It is heartening to have employees with such a high level of dedication and loyalty to Mattei and I hope they’ll both remain with us for many years to come.”
